Hi, I’m Danielle Lavoie.

I’m a Rhode Island-based photographer, primarily working in Rhode Island but also venturing around New England and as far as Florida for some wonderful sessions. I specialize in growing families but also enjoy working with businesses, photographing events, and more.

Part of growing my own business has centered on ensuring my values are present in my work. You’ll see examples of that throughout the website, but I want to share a few key non-negotiables that are unique to me and Danielle Lavoie Photography.

Prices will always be transparent and upfront. They will reflect a sliding scale, with the price listed as the core price. If you’re very satisfied and willing to pay more, your contribution will help offset the cost for someone else. If you need services but can’t afford the core price, talk to me about how we can use community-generated funds to help cover the cost. I’m happy to work with you because I believe everyone should have access to quality professional photography.

Flexibility and consent will always be integral to the design of your session. For example, if you or your little one needs to reschedule, that’s completely understandable! We will work it out.

Every client will fill out a social media consent form indicating how and if they want their photos shared, and what is okay or not okay to share regarding their children. Just because you want professional services doesn’t mean I should have free rein to share your life on the internet; we’re a team.

Finally, my work is political. From the people I work with to the materials I use, it’s important to me that I’m thoughtful and considerate of the ways photography has historically been harmful. Lenses are and always will be second-hand and refurbished, and the people I have the pleasure of photographing will always feel safe and valued with me.

If you think we’d be a good fit, reach out. I’d love to work with you.

My Philosophy

Everyone deserves access to quality professional photography. I want my work to reflect my values and that includes pricing. Throughout the website you will see things listed as “core prices,” that is because I offer a sliding scale. If you can pay more, and would like to offset the cost for someone else, you can consider that and if the core price is tight for your budget, I’ll work with you.

Why?

In our society, our financial opportunities and how we're valued are often shaped by things like race, gender identity, disability, immigration status, and even the language we primarily speak. It's not just about how much money we make – other factors like being a caregiver, having access to family wealth, or dealing with extra expenses due to a disability can significantly influence our relationship with money.

It’s important to me to consider these factors when booking with clients. I want to be able to tell everyone’s story regardless of financial access and I want my portfolio to stand out as one that you can see yourself represented in.
